Sukkos Decor

Flower Lantern

Every summer, as we plan the photo shoot for the coming year's sukkos décor, we find ourselves repeating the same line over and over again: “we should really photograph the sukkos décor for next sukkos erev sukkos of this year”. After all, who has a sukkah standing in August? (Please let us know if you do!) Somehow, that great idea, never actually happens…

When Hudi showed up at my house at the beginning of August (rainy day-surprise, surprise) our goal was to try to shoot the sukkos décor in between the drops of rain against the siding of my house (kind of  makes sense as many people use a house wall as a sukkah wall.) As we inspected the area, angle, … Hudi said- “you know what-I’m gonna shoot indoors.

With his magic, he used  his wood surface as a background to resemble a sukkah wall. And yes, all these photographs were shot in my living room.

Paper Lanterns, or traditional Chinese Lanterns, are the new, trendy decorating idea.  The lanterns are inexpensive and available in loads of sizes and colors. Take a trip to your local craft shop or dollar store and pick from  a huge assortment of artificial leaves and flowers. Use a hot glue gun to glue on flowers.

Hang lanterns from ceiling using clear thread.
